I am a PhD student in the History Department at the University of Sheffield, and my thesis is provisionally entitled ‘Policing and the Identification of Offenders in Metropolitan London, 1780-1850’. My PhD is funded as part of the Digital Panopticon Project, a major research project that aims to allow the detailed study of criminal lives and penal outcomes.
